Rank Strangers touch up record book

Last month's Madison-Chicago relay saw our team add seven (7) runners to the Rank Stranger network and numerous changes to the record book.

Rank Strangers finished in its typical middle-of-the-pack spot, 145th among the 251 teams in the "Regular Mixed Open" division.  Overall we were 260th out of 429 finishers.  Our average time per mile was 9:14.  We were 11 hours and 20 minutes behind the division and overall winner, Team NUNN, which averaged 5:56 per mile.

Our new runners were Beth Fegan, Pati Flannery, Therese Nolan, Tim Scott, Bo Lackey, Bill Shepard and Paul Miller.

The team made its mark on the record book, including Beth, Art and Therese with runs of more than 8 miles:

Fourteen (14) Rank Strangers have had runs of more than 8 miles: Keith (2), Kim (2), Randy (2), Marc G. (2), Martin (2), Holly, Steve H., Ed S., Jeff, Art, Monique, Jennifer, Beth, Therese.  The 8+ milers: Monique 11.8, Keith 11.7, Jennifer 10.9, Keith 10.7, Kim 9.9, Art 9.9, Beth 9.3, Art 9.1, Randy 9, Martin 8.8, Holly 8.6, Steve H. 8.6, Randy 8.6, Marc G. 8.4, Kim 8.4, Marc G. 8.2, Martin 8.2, Ed S. 8.2, Therese 8.2, Jeff 8. (Keith’s runs, Monique’s 11.8 and Art’s 9.1 mile runs spanned multiple legs; the others were single legs).

Jeff increased his lead in all time mileage with 169.7 miles to Eric's 162.5 miles.   Jeff has averaged 18.9 miles over 9 relays; Eric has averaged 18.1.

Martin and Monique (2 relays apiece) are the only multiple-race Rank Stranger to average more than 20 miles per relay.  Top average miles (2 or more relays): 1. Martin (2) 21.3, 2.
