Into the night

Runners are now required to wear headlamps and blinky vests until after sunrise on Saturday.  Some runners will get to run twice with the safety gear; everyone gets at least one chance to run in the dark.  Some of the legs are well lit by street lamps but some, on bike paths or through parks, are dark.

Perhaps a touch of boredom

Awaiting Van #2 in Racine, Wisconsin.

Best breakfast - Coffee Pot in Kenosha

Van 2 - we all got the homemade toast.  (Steve, Melinda, Jason, Susanna, Renee)

Transition #1 - Madison van takes over

Cathy and Renee, candidly
The Chicago van has finished its first 6-runner shift and the Madison van has taken the baton.  We'll switch again in 5 hours or so.

There was some complexity in making this happen: Pete, Amanda and Alexander drove the van down from Madison to Waukegan, IL, and picked up Cathy, Gina and Margaret at a nearby train station. Cathy and Gina flew in from Florida on Wednesday; Margaret lives in downtown Chicago. We thought about having them ride up in the "Chicago van" but they needed to arrive at least 1 hour early to sign in.

The Chicago van is off to find a shower and a meal.
